I knew when it happened, I saw her eyes
I knew that she no longer could recognize
The daughter that stood by her side
and shared in all her tears and sighs
I remember how she would disagree
when the nurse would say this is your family
There were the good days and there were the bad
in between the constant sad
It was not until that fateful day
that I knew she had passed away
What started as walking became a run
and before I got there death had won
It seems god had heard her silent plea
and took her into his company
