I SAT ON RICKY'S BED while he was sat on a chair in front of me, handing me tissues when I needed. I only looked down at my hyper hands who danced together, sweat about to form. We have been like this, quiet, for about five minutes. Even though it took a lot for me to stop crying. Ricky just repeated, "happy thoughts". I look up at him and noticed he was doing the same as me. His head hung low and fingers played around. I frowned not knowing what to say so I decided to apologize.
"I'm sorry," I finally spoke, realizing how strained my voice was. He lifts his head, his eyes beaming after hearing me speak. His eyebrows knitted into confusion. "For, y'know, ruining the night. We were supposed to hang out and-"
"No," He shakes his head, a small laugh forming out of his mouth. "You didn't do anything wrong. It's barely, like seven. We have the whole night to be happy." He smiled and I couldn't help but slowly smile as well.
"Thank you." I pout and he just shrugged, straightening his back.
"I'm here for a reason," I continued to just look at him, realizing how dry my face is from the dried-up tears and I couldn't help but chuckle. He was confused but he didn't question me. Instead, he asked about my day. "What happened to him? It had never been this bad." His smile disappears and I was afraid to speak.
