Gil Arroyo was the closest thing to a father Michelle had. She was the daughter of a single mother who worked closely with Gil as a homicide detective. After her mother died, Gil and his wife, Jackie, took sixteen year old Michelle in as their own.
The two were there front and center when she graduated high school, and then again when she graduated college, and then finally when she graduated the police academy with the dream of becoming a homicide detective, just like her mother, which she achieved after years of hard work.
Gil was there when she met Malcolm for the first time, he, after all, had introduced the two. He was there to question Malcolm like any father would when they started to date. He was there to walk her down the aisle. He was even there to let her step on his feet a couple times during the father of the bride dance.
Gil was there for everything and anything. Whenever she needed him, he was there without a moments hesitation. He was by her side when Michelle felt as if the world beneath her feet was crumbling as she signed the final divorce papers.
