School days are over. I will miss my best friend Fredo. He flew to Davao just this morning. I will miss my team mates, my coach, the girls,..yeah the girls. But definitely I will miss Asher. I’m feeling so sad that I wasn’t able to fix things between us before we separate ways. I know, the next school year would be awkward between the two of us. I just wish I could see her somewhere in the park, or in the church, or with Yolly… I wish!

Since yesterday, I’ve been staying here in my room, thinking about the girl I love the most, but probably lost the worst. Asher has been all around me, in my mind and I my heart. She means everything to me. If only I could go back to the time I met her, I would treat her like a precious diamond not anyone can afford to lose.

“RJ, it’s breakfast time. Go out of your room. You have not eaten anything since last night.”

“I’ll follow ma. 5 min.”

I fixed myself so that mom and dad will not notice that I am feeling unwell. But I think, they know me that much that I can’t hide any secret from them.

“RJ what’s wrong. You look so worried this past few days.”

“Maybe he miss Fredo and basketball hon.”

“Or perhaps, he is already falling in love.. right big bro..?”

“Shut up Kent. You know nothing.”

“Then tell mom and dad and me about what happened.”

“Yes son. What’s the matter?”

“Nothing dad. It’s just that, I hurt  the girl I like the most.”

“Who is this very “unlucky girl” kuya?”

“Pwede bang tumahimik ka diyan kung ayaw mo masaktan.”

“Uyyyyy, biglang nagtagalog ang trying hard mag English ko na kuya ah..”

“School days are over bro. magtatagalog ako hanggat gusto ko.”

“Tama nay an. Kent, wag mu nang asarin ang kuya mo. Mukhang tinamaan nga eh. Tingnan mu, may tigyawat na sa ilong. Pero pogi parin.. (smile).”

“Ma…..ewan ko sa inyo. Kumain na lang tayo.”

After breakfast, I went back to my room. After a while, someone knocked on my door. It was Kent I believe who would perhaps say sorry or would ask me to go out with him for a bike. Kent is just a year younger than me. We are close to each other that we know how to make “asar” and “lambing”. But it was not him, it was Dad, Randolph Sr., my very best buddy.

“Nak, tinamaan ka talaga ano?”

“Yes dad. Paano kasi, talagang kakaiba siya sa lahat ng babaeng nakilala ko.”

“Mukha nga. Wala ka pa ngang naging girlfriend kasi you were never serious with girls, pero itong si….”

“Asher dad, Asher is her name. The sweetest name for a girl.”

“Ok. Asher. Talagang natutulala ka sa kanya ha. Bakit ano ba ang nagyari?”

“I thought at first, I will not like her. Pano ko ba naman siya magugustuhan eh palagi na lang naka yuko, sobrang conservative at napakamahiyain. At siya lang yung kauna unhang babaeng hindi ako pinansin nung madaanan ako. Kaya ayon, I bullied her. But when I saw her eyes, her lips, Dad lagot na, napana na talaga ako ni kupido..”

“And then….”

“Nasaktan nga siya sa bully ko. And when I told her, I like her. She was in great and terrible disbelief. Hindi daw ako yung klase ng lalaki na nagpapakatotoo sa salitang “I love you”.
