Chapter 2- The Hybrid Level

The belly of the beast.....

As Mr. Thayer and I walked down the long corridor the horrid sounds got louder. Mr. Thayer glances at me then looks ahead as we continue to walk "Your records say you are 27"

I glance at him "So...?"

"You look much younger.."

I roll my eyes "I'm not wearing my glasses. your men broke them as they attacked me. I look my age if not older with my glasses on Mr. Thayer." I say

"fair enough maria" he says and comes to an elevator and we get inside

"Mr. Thayer, you will call me Doctor, or Dr. Lohman as I call you Mr. Thayer. we are not acquaintances." I imply sternly

"yes Dr."

We come to a new floor, the elevator door opens and ahead I see a long huge room filled with small square rooms side by side with movement in all of them. we step out of the elevator.

"What is this?" I ask finally seeing that the horrid sounds were coming from this part of the building.

"the mutation facility....... come I will introduce you to some" he says with a grin

My eyes widen and I follow him. "Couldn't they escape?"

"They are all in their own individual cells with 10 cm thick glass depending on the type."

"can they speak?" I ask

"some." he says

"What is your point with all these mutations? besides destroying them and keeping them in observations tanks like guinea pigs....?" I ask sickened by the idea

Mr. Thayer chuckles "Doctor Lohman.... How do you think they became the way they are without DNA strands switched and combined injections..?" he responds with a grin

I frown "They?.... Mr. Thayer are you saying all these hybrids in here are humans?!"

He smiles half-like "You'll see soon enough.." he says and turns walking onward "Now, Come... I will take you to the third level after showing you around here first..."

"Third level?" I ask confused as I follow him

"Have you not realized we are underground...?" he chuckles. "The last level is 7 which our goverment but specific leaders are permitted to enter."

"Whats on that level?"

"Its classified Dr. Lohman" he says

I sigh in frustration and grab his arm, spinning him around to look at me "Look Mr. Thayer, I was just abusively kidnapped by your men, tied and blindfolded. Not to mention I will probably never be able to find my way out and you want to hold stuff from me.....?" I say annoyed "You want me to work for you, I suggest you start talking." I threaten

He smirks and pulls his arm out of my grip "Let me widen your observation Doctor... You will never leave this site.. And there are consequences for the orders you choose to disobey... Be careful how you speak to me.."

and with that he straightens his suit coat and continues walking "Come....."

I stand there for a moment over thinking everything. never leaving?..... I think

we stop in front of one cell, the glass is all scratched up so was almost impossible to see through.

I step closer to the cell trying to catch a sneak peak through the extreme scratches on the glass. i finally get to a part of the glass that isn't  scratched and right there waiting was the most horrifying eyes I've ever seen. I jump back with a yelp as the mutation goes berserk on the glass clawing, biting and climbing on the glass. I put my hand to my chest trying to control my racing heart and my breathing. just then, a squealing comes from the cell and a bunch of lights go on and off in the cell. Like lightning hitting a mirror...
