In 2000, the World Wide Fund for Nature (previously World Wildlife Fund) sued the World Wrestling Foundation over the use of the initials WWF. After losing the lawsuit and before the appeal could be determine, the World Wresting Foundation changed their name to World Wrestling Entertainment and started using the initials WWE.
