Trigger Warnings: it's just generally eerie
(this was written as an English class project, not really a song but oh well)

Snug in his bed, warm at night.
Charlie doesn't know that he's in for a fright.

Knock knock knock, It's under the floor.
Charlie's too afraid to run to the door.

Tap tap tap, It's under his bed.
Charlie can't ignore the voice in his head.

Scrape scrape scrape, It's near his desk.
Charlie's feeling braver less and less.

Thump thump thump, It's on his mattress.
Charlie tries to hope that he can catch this.

He tries to call out, but he's lost his voice.
He keeps alert, waiting for a noise.

He feels It touch him, stroke his cheek.
Charlie gulps and sneaks a peek.

The sight that he sees fills him with terror.
No other sight could be scarier.

Rows of sharp teeth, glinting brightly.
Charlie grips his sheets very tightly.

Large green eyes, staring hungrily.
The Monster snarls, loud and menacing.

Opening his mouth and a very loud scream,
Charlie blinks his eyes and meets a new scene.

His mother is there, hugging him gently.
"Hush now Charlie, nothing here is unfriendly."

Charlie dried his eyes and sniffed,
"Mama I dreamt that it could shape-shift."

"First it was small and now it's large,
And it pushed me to the bed, oh so hard."

His mother smiled and laid on the bed,
"Fear not child, the monster's in your head."

Charlie frowned and spoke quietly,
"Mama, will you please stay with me?"

Mama smiled and crawled under the blanket,
Charlie sighed and said his thanks.

Together they laid in the darkness.
No noise except for their quiet breath.

Just after Charlie had fallen into a quiet slumber,
Something peculiar happened to his mother.

From her jaw sprouted long sharp fangs,
And her eyes changed from blue to bright green.
