avoid catching penury.

rarely sweated much
except in expensive gyms
the clients paid for.
Golden Tunics and handshakes
backslap power, not merit.
Kings, Queens, Emperors, Rulers,
Tsars too have been stupid,
cruel, palpably worse -
kill, loot, steal, murder
enriching and ennobling
but enslaving the people.
