The loud noise woke Eva up with a start, her heart pounding as she sat up her vision dis-orientated. It took her body a bit of time to realize she wasn't in that horrible place anymore, her breathing returned to normal as she crawled out from the bushes.

Her feet hurt, her legs hurt, everything hurt as she shivered in the cold. Where was she? Did she have any idea? No.

She just walked, and walked, till she couldn't walk anymore. Her cheeks felt dry and sticky and she wasn't sure if it was from the tears, that had dried up. She couldn't cry anymore even if she tried.

She could feel the pitter patter of the rain on her head as it came down heavier, washing away all traces of dirty, blood and fingerprints left on her. The cold water touched her skin, relaxing her from her shaking.

Her mind was still messed, did that just happened? The man she trusted? She felt disgusted, the way her body betrayed her. Another sob racked through her body as she walked faster, she couldn't go home now, not after what he had done.

All she could do was find a really high cliff and jump off it, but did the bastard deserve the satisfaction of getting away? No?

Would someone believe her? She highly doubted it. Oh not Jason, Jason was perfect in the eyes of the community, besides everyone knew they were betrothed, they would just assume she was in fault.

It was always the ladies fault. She could imagine the rumors, oh what it would to do her family, her sister's especially. They would never get married.

She shook her head wiping her eyes, no signs off tears, she couldn't do that.

She felt the bruises on her arms, from the ribbon digging into her skin, the flesh was red and bleeding. She still didn't know how she managed to get away when he went to check for his friend, her heart was racing and it was just like something came over her as she escaped.

But what was the point, everything was over now. She would never be the same again, no one would look at her, marry her, she was soiled goods.

She paused again catching her breathe leaning against the trees, what was she going to do? Where was she going to go?

She looked up as she heard voices, her heart skipping a beat. Surely they didn't come looking for her, did they?

She blended into the bushes she was near, her eyes wide as she looked at the dirt track.

It was a carriage, she could hear voices. She watched as two men got out, they were definitely not people she recognized. One was old, and she couldn't make out the other, all she could see was a walking stick and the other crouched fixing what seemed to be like the carriage wheel.

"Do you think you can fix it?" She heard them speak.

"We need to find a big stick to place under it, so we can lift it," the driver responded. She watched as the two men walked towards the other side searching for sticks and she looked at the horses grazing, surely they didn't need four houses.

She could just...borrow one.

Kane stormed out of the reading room, "Mill where the bloody hell are you?"

He ran a hand through his dark hair irritated that one simple order could not be carried out. It was simple, do not give him unimportant letter. He was there to look through them, but here he was holding a pale pink envelope and his blood was boiling.

His assistant scurried from the other room rushing to his sire's assistance before things got worse, everyone knew how Kane was, and the last thing he wanted to do was mess with him.
