A couple months went by and things changed around the school casual Friday slowly caught on. We finally put a label on out relationship. Were sitting in the gym and the principal taped the mic and the room fell silent and we all looked at him
" good morning students ... so as you know every year for the second semester some of you have the opportunity to go somewhere much like an exchange student but you don't leave the states "
" where to this year "
Some one yelled
" this year is New York "
I looked at Dom with a big smile on my face then I looked back at the man in the front of the room.
" this year we have 20 slots "
My smile faded a little
" now this is on a first come first serve basis "
Dom lightly squeezed my hand and I looked at him
" don't worry it was the same last year so people won't rush to sign up "
" ok "
I whispered. When the assembly ended we went to the office to sign up. We were numbers 15 and 16 on the paper and we were given permission slips for our parents to sign. The day flew by
" he can you give me a ride to my dads house "
" yeah do you wanna change first "
I looked down at the uniform

I nocked on the door and his new wife answered
" can I help you "
" yes is my farther home "

He walked into the room

He looked at the uniform and when his wife and Venus left the room he said

I gave him the paper the he sighed

I handed him a pen and he signed it
" thank you now I'll get out of your hair "
I smiled and walked out the door. When I got back in the car

I held up the paper and he saw the signature on the bottom
" can you take me home "

The drive was silent. When I walked in I said
" mom I'm going to study abroad for a semester and I got dad to sign "

I said and went into my room.

The next week Monday was the day that we were flying out and it was now Sunday morning and my dad showed up

He had a white box in his hands
" I thought that you should have some way of keeping in touch and a way to take pictures "

My face was starting to hurt from me smiling

I hugged him and for the first time in a long time he didn't hesitate to hug me back. He got into his new car and drove off. The next day Dominic picked me up and we went to the air port together and a few minutes after the plain took off I fell asleep.
