Third-person P.O.V.

Aria sat awkwardly in the uncomfortable chairs in the hospital waiting room. Her eyes were bloodshot and she looked as though she hadn't slept for days even though it had only been a couple of hours since Kadence had been admitted. Her green eyes were constantly flicking from her phone to the nurses station to the swinging door leading to where her best friend was.

To her left Spencer was sitting - well slouching really - in his char. His leg was bouncing restlessly as he fidgeted with his hands. The amount of stress he was feeling seemed to affect everyone around him as people became more and more irritable. He hadn't changed from the outfit that he wore to his date, as soon as he heard what Aria had said on the phone he had rushed to the hospital forgetting about the poor girl he left sitting at the table. His tie was loosened, the top buttons of his dress shirt were unbuttoned, and he had his sleeves rolled up around his elbows.

He felt the chair shaking more than it already was from his leg and saw Aria shivering. She was only wearing a pair of exercise shorts and a sports bra so there's no wonder why she's cold.

Little bumps began to raise up and down her skin as the adrenaline began to fade and the chill set in. A chill went down her spine and she pulled her legs up on the seat so that she could wrap her arms around them in an effort to keep warm.

Shrugging off his jacket, Spencer put it around her shoulders without saying a word. Aria looked up at him and Spencer took in how broken she looked. She had already lost her brother for who knows how long to a different country and now her best friend is going through something that she doesn't even understand. She had no one. She might have had someone to keep her warm every night or have someone to go out with but ultimately they meant nothing compared to Kadence and Derrick. They were her everything.

She choked out a sob and Spencer pulled her in to him. He didn't really know what to do with his hands so began to do a combination of patting and awkward petting ranging from her back to her head. To an outside perspective it might've seemed like one of the strangest encounters you'd see between two people but to them it was just what they needed - comfort from someone who feels the same pain.

Yes, their love is different but they still feel it. Aria love's Kadence like a sister and Spencer loves her as something different, something much more.

They sat like that for the next couple hours until the exhaustion finally won and they nodded of leaving Aria from feeling her phone vibrating in her pocket as Derrick called her again.

Derrick's P.O.V.

The previous day...

I sat strumming my fingers at my desk as I stared at the phone in front of me. They moved me from my old position to sitting behind a boring desk and doing what I can to help them from behind there. It pisses me off; they gave me some büllshit excuse on why they don't think I'm stable enough for it or some shït like that.

The one good thing about it is that I can occasionally call loved ones from back home.

Instead of seeing a stupid old phone I saw something that would give me the opportunity to actually hear her voice rather than reading her words on a piece of paper. It was more valuable than diamonds or gold would ever be to me.

Lately Kady hasn't been writing me back and it's been making me feel antsy. I don't know if it's because she's with that one guy again or if she's mad at me or just - I don't know - just anything. It's driving me crazy.

"Are you going to call her or what?" The words broke my conversation and caused me to jump. "Holy shït man," He laughed, "You going soft on me?"

I turned my head to glare at the person next to me and he continued to laugh, "Zack, do you think you could be anywhere else than here?"
