LUKE

Why did his days always start like this. Freezing cold and soaking wet on his front porch with her stupid little face stuck on the inside of his eyelids like a bad rash.

How dare she find him. Drag his half pissed ass off a ledge with her hair plastered to her forehead with rain and her eyes wide with pure determination.

She forced him to react as he did, push her away. Why was she being so persistent anyway? Why does she not realise people as different as them weren't supposed to be close, he didn't want her that close. Not her pity tutoring or her concerned looks, staging at him like he was some kind of wounded animal on the side of the damn highway.

So he picked up his phone, fresh anger pumping through his veins, and dialled the only number he had committed to memory.

"Hello?"

"Hey dickface you broke your promise"

"Oh good afternoon Lucas! Sleep well?"

"Fuck off Michael, I gave you one job, keep her away from me" Luke hissed

"Oops, forgot"

"Michael, I thought we had an agreement"

"We do, don't we?"

"Why did you have to bring her Michael, why did you do that?"

"It was hilarious, looking at you all sad and asleep in the rain, you miss her don't you? You miss her being concerned for you?"

"I don't want her to be concerned for me, I don't want her anywhere near me"

"Well you're doing a shit job! By doing this you're just making her more concerned! What's wrong with you? Why can't you see that? Believe it or not buddy but not everyone wants to hurt you Luke, people want to love you but you won't let them" Michael snapped then the line went dead

Michael was wrong. People only love someone to hurt them and Luke wasn't going to let some dumb European hurt him. He wasn't going to allow himself to get hurt again
