The waves crashed against the shores, as if angry of the lies the land now held. Such promises had once been made by the land to protect its people, and yet it had not. Ultimately betraying its inhabitants, the people now lived in fear and confinement as if prisoners of the land and the sea. For it was the sea that had failed to misguide the summer raids of such fearless creatures, of Vikings. Clary Beckett had observed nearby places being raided, ambushed, and destroyed by the terrifying Pagans, so it was no surprise the day their ships could be seen from her town of Amlwch on the coast of Anglesey Isle. Many people had fled, some had gone to the church to ask for forgiveness before taking their own lives, and others watched from afar as their ships came nearer. It was a matter of accepting fate, and the changes that it brought. For Clary, she accepted fate, but it did not prevent the many lies the land now held. And it did not prevent the many more that would come from the sea.
