Canto X

The Sky is Falling

July 7th 2019, Olan L. Smith

Circles engulf me; surround me until I'm totally far-reaching

Chakras within me; one through seven, and eight connect to paradise,

And upward to infinity; I feel full. My angels border me

From the circle of maize up into heaven, but don't

Let me drop into the depths of the icy prison where

Nothing can move, thought is not, and numbness prevails.

I see it on earth; everywhere I pursue understanding is an unkind

Tempest from the right, saying, "You know too much!" I know

That reality is brittle on a well-lit day. Warm your bones

And become aware, but the more I know, the more

I realize that all is nothing, a wave, a dream, an illusion,

Created by nothing in the absence of somethingness

Nothing becomes of us. All that we know is void

Compounded by assumptions, a brittle structure easily

Collapsed, and misfortune is upon you; all falls down!

You know to reason is to be, you know the void, for out of

Naught comes your thoughts; an eternity of belief

An eternity of pondering. Am I or am I not?

I know I am, because I never was, and always will be.

What is outside of thought? Your idea of God? You're duped.

The self is annulled, and all things ensue at once.

I write; therefore I am, I will be, and I was. What is time,

But, null and void? It has no meaning to the vacuum. I walk

The path meanders, from here to there and back again.

Around we go in circles. Chakras within chakras; I'm in a vortex.
