Scarlett's P.O. V

The park, his email had said. Two o'clock. Under the oak tree. Be there. Well I was here and he wasn't, however it was nothing new for me, he was always late.

I muttered to myself under my breath and sat down between the roots of the tree,

"Stupid," I muttered to myself,"Why do I still trust him,". I took my phone out of my pocket and looked at it for a few seconds. I sighed and began texting him.

"Send," I said to the phone quietly.

Then all of a sudden, I heard the beeping of a second phone somewhere above me. However, before I had time to look up, he had swung down from the branches of the tree and was beside me seconds later. He grinned at me and I stared back at him, What a weirdo, I thought,

"What is all this about, Guy?" I asked.

He winked and reached into his pocket, before bringing forth a crumpled map. He handed it to me. I eyed him suspiciously as I unfolded the aging paper. I took only a few seconds to study the map before I pushed it back into his hands saying flatly,

"No,". His smile dropped,

"Aww come on Scarlett, you know you want to!" he began,

"No," I said again,"I am not doing that, you can stuff it,"

"Scarlett, think of all the gold, think of the adventure," he said,

"No Guy, I don't need adventure anymore, I'm happy with my life. I'm not like you, this isn't just a hobby for you anymore, it's an obsession. And I'm not obsessed,"

I sat back. I didn't want to look at him now. Guy sat back too and I saw him running his fingers through his red hair in the corner of my eye,

"Scarlett," he began again, after a long and awkward silence between us,"I just thought that, with the money, you could pay for you're dad's operation,". I whipped around and slapped him,

"Don't you dare bring my father into this!". Guy recoiled at the harshness of my voice and the pain of my palm cracking across his cheek,"I will be able to pay for the treatment without you're stupid treasure, I don't need you're help!" I cried with sudden fury. Guy stared at me, trying to ignore the stinging red mark which was rapidly appearing on his cheek,

"Scarlett, you can't possibly believe that you'll be able to manage on your own do you?". I slapped him again,

"Shut up!" I snarled," I can manage perfectly thank you very much, Darren says that he's got a job finally and the money will start coming in within the month," I told him. Guy's face twisted distastefully,

"Job, huh? I doubt it, he'll never hold it down! I don't know what you see in the drunk bastard!" I punched him, shrieking,

"Don't you dare call him that! He's trying ok?! Not everyone's perfect, Guy! No, not even you!". Guy spat blood from his mouth saying venomously,

"I know I'm far from perfect. You know I only wanted to help Scarlett, I only wanted to help you, 'cause that's what friends do isn't it!?"

"You're NOT my friend Guy!" I screeched angrily standing up,

"I think I worked that one out for myself, you just prefer you're drunk, deadbeat excuse of a boyfriend to someone who actually cares about you're life!" he roared doing the same.

"Oh yeah? Well whose that?!" I asked my face twisted with rage,

"Well its certainly NOT me!" Guy yelled,

"No, I figured that one out," I snarled. Then, without giving him a chance to answer, I had turned on my heel and was gone.

Several days later...

I sat at the window of my flat staring out over the city absent mindedly.

I didn't need Guy's treasure, I didn't need him. He would be in the Amazon Rainforest by now, searching for often non existent temples, risking his neck for no reason. I snarled slightly at his stupidity.

People died doing what he did and he knew that, but he was addicted to the adrenalin rush that was always there. He wasn't stable when he wasn't treasure hunting, he was like a heroin addict without his heroin, he couldn't physically think of anything else but his next rush. I stood up and turned away from the window. I was about to leave the flat when my phone beeped, telling me that I had a text. I took it out of my pocket and glanced at it quickly. At the sight of who it was from, I recoiled with shock. The text was from Guy. He's probably hit a mother load of gold and is texting me to gloat about it. I scowled and put my phone away, without even reading the message.
