I sit here alone under the night sky
As my cheeks glitter in the moonlight
Then the all too familiar salty taste dances on my taste buds
My lip begins to quiver as my heart sinks into the black
Memories of the past flickers in my mind
They where once filled with happiness
Now all they bring is pain and despair
I look up at the sky and see the stars
The same stars we looked at long ago
The long ago that's still fresh in my mind
The long ago that is the cause of all my misery
I look away and curl up on the ground
Seeking refuge in the green grass
But my attempts are in vain
As the memories flood into me like a wave...
The bitter sweet memory of us lying on the grass
With my head resting on your shoulder
And your arms engulfing me with warmth
Now all I feel is the phantom embrace that leaves me cold
Thinking back on how my fingers laced through yours so perfectly
Now leaves my hands empty and hungry for your touch
Even though these memories are but a phantom in my mind
I can still feel the remains of your kiss lingering on my lips
