A Taste of Honey ︳Prologue
Aphrodite could watch you for hours upon hours; her beloved honey-nymph. The way you unwittingly sang to yourself, bees dancing at the tune at which you hummed with glee. Aphrodite's eyes twinkled, sighing to herself once again as she watched over you.
The way the sunshine fell upon you, highlighting your long locks and dewy skin from the heat of the day - it was like Apollo knew how beautiful you appeared under the gentle touches of the sun.
There was just something about you, something that pulled at the strings of Aphrodite's heart, making it swell with appreciation. Aphrodite hummed, tapping her prettily manicured fingers along her cheeks, watching the way you directed the bees to another patch of flowers in the field. What was it? What was it that made Aphrodite look at you with such...admiration?
Maybe it was because, when she looked at you - the clueless honey-nymph you were, she was reminded that the world wasn't as corrupt as it felt at times. That there was still love, innocence, and beauty still left in this cruel universe. Another content sigh escaped the Goddess's rose coloured lips.
She wanted nothing but the best for her little friend, because in her eyes - you were nothing short of perfect. And although she would never say it out loud, you were the only being who could come close to her beauty - but that was something only for Aphrodite to know, and only her.
But it was because of your beauty - your innocence, that she wanted nothing but perfect for the little nymph that she has claimed as her own - so much so, that she dare call you a daughter of hers. From the day you offered her honey, the sweetest she's ever tasted, she begged the Goddess Demeter to let you be under her wing. Beg is something that the great Aphrodite does not do - which is maybe why Demeter willingly let you go.
She stood from the pillar at which she leaned against, and with a final nod, turned on her heel to let you do what you do best - guiding the bees to help populate. For years you, the great honey-nymph, gave her so much happiness, "AndI will return the happiness" - Aphrodite chirped to herself as she walked through the forest, "The ultimate source of euphoria for any man or God - love."
And there was only one man who could help her with such a grand quest - the God Dionysus.
