             THE BIRTH

"Dial my home put my wife on the line"

These were the words of Mr John Fishers, a man in his late thirties, tall, heavily built and handsome to behold. He walked through his secretary's office and turning around he said to him,

"Be fast about that".

He threw himself into his office chair, took a deep breath and drew himself closer to his office desk, he began to look through the files stacked on his table. After some minutes he came across a red file with his wife's name boldly inscribed on it, he kept it aside and continued with the rest. When he was done, he quickly opened the file and found a thick brown envelope. He was about dropping the file when his Secretary walked in.

"Your wife is on the line he announced".

John picked up the phone and a female voice spoke in the background,

"Hi dear", spoke the voice,

"Hi darling" replied John,

"I saw your file on my desk this morning, it has this thick brown envelope inside. I didn't check its contents"

"Dear I'm busy in office now", the female voice said.

"OK, why don't you come over for lunch at my office and we will discuss about it", John said persuasively

"OK I will, but promise me you will be punctual", said the female voice.

"I will try, I have a board meeting to attend by 09:30 am so goodbye for now", John said giggling.

"OK dear I will see you there" the female voice replied.

It was exactly 12:15 PM and John was seated in the hospitals' canteen he was still awaiting his wife's arrival

He looked at the expensive wrist watch he was wearing and looking up he saw his wife, Mrs Elena Fishers a woman in her early thirties, she had a very long hair, a sleek body shape and was an elegant woman. She was an embodiment of calligraphy and sometimes John would say his wife was his greatest miracle. She sat on the seat opposite him and began to apologize for her late coming,

"Dear I'm so sorry for not keeping to time today, remember I told you I was busy at the office", she said apologetically.

"I understand I have been here for seventeen minutes, but I knew you would still show up".

John handed her a thick brown envelope and looked absent mindedly out of the window. She opened it and began to sob, crystal like tears ran down her beautiful cheeks. John who was once absent heard her sobs, turner to her and  stared at her with unbelief,

"Darling what's wrong", he asked still looking stunned.

She handed him the content of the envelope and looked out of the window still sobbing. John read the envelopes' content, shifted his chair closer to her and began to converse with her, he began to console her. He congratulated her.

"I know how you feel but you should be happy", he said comfortingly.

"I know I'll just have to endure in these coming months, all will soon be over and we will be carrying our own baby. I believe it will be over soon", she said comfortingly.

John's phone rang and after a brief conversation with the caller he broke the silence,

"Sweetheart there was an emergency at the hospital, my presence is highly needed. My secretary says its complicated but I will return early for us to have dinner together", John said settling the bills.
