dreaming,
i am seeing stars
crowns of diamond
teardrops, wishing well
a pool of dark waters
streaked with blue. i smashed the day to pieces
on the ground, saw her
shatter a thousand times like i
broke her down.
i solemnly swear -
pledge allegiance
to the dying dreams in
my open-eyed black night
i solemnly swear it; my siren sang
nighttime with a hollow head
on the pillow,
and dancing shadows
on the ceiling - the flickering and fading
of shining lights race
across the walls - the fuse blew
they taught me how to fix it at school -
tomorrow i could
put my lipstick on,
and pout like an ingénue
i'd laugh 'cause they don't really know
faceless archetype
laughing because i know there is more.
