After all this time ?

Chapter 4

MAYA POV

After the rodeo was over we decided to go out to one of the bars and dance, have fun and drink. Most of the girls were 21 or over so they were drinking.

Once we got there Riley went straight onto the dance floor but I just sat down at the bar.

I can't stop thinking about Lucas.

Will I ever see him again?

I was lost in thought so I didn't even see Riley come over to me, she grabbed my hand and dragged me onto the dance floor

We both copied the other girls foot movements and we started dancing I think we're getting quite good at it or getting the hang of it at least

I held onto Lucas's hat as we danced, it's wayyy too big to me but I don't want to put it down and loose it

We were all dancing together laughing and joking but I still couldn't get him off my mind so I decided to take a break and go outside.

I stood with my arms resting on some fence just outside the bar.

LUCAS POV

I had just rode again and me and some rodeo friends went to the bar close by

Once we were inside I looked around and spotted Maya dancing and laughing she still had my hat on it was cute she looked so happy, but then she stopped and went outside

I wonder why she just stopped?

Is she okay?

I waited contemplating what to do and then decided to follow her out.

She was stood with her arms on a fence and wow she looks so beautiful, her long blonde hair was flowing down her back my hat was on her head. I like that she kept it on even though it was too big for her. She was wearing some tight black jeans and a flowy blue top and I noticed she had some cowgirl boots on,

They suit her.

"Hey you know I used to have a hat just like that" I spoke hoping she knew I was talking to her

MAYA POV

I heard a voice next to me as I turned my head to look I realised it's Lucas

I hadn't properly looked at him before but now it was just me and him I could see him more,

He looks stronger now, his muscles are a lot more defined and he has definitely gotten taller.

He must of noticed me checking him out because he snickered and smiled, so I just acted like I wasn't.

"Oh sorry" I laughed taking the hat off and walking towards him, holding the hat out for him to take

"It's okay keep it, it looks better on you anyway" He said smirking,

Is he flirting with me ?

"Like this ?" I asked putting the hat back on my head but my hand knocked it when I was putting my hands back down to my side and the hat tilted sideway making me giggle slightly.

Lucas covered his mouth with his hands to stop himself laughing "May I ?" He asked smiling warmly

"Go ahead Cowboy" he stepped forward so we are quite close now and took the hat off my head, he placed the hat back on head fixing it and slightly tilted it upwards so I could see

"Perfect" He smiled

I've missed that smile, and his laugh.

I've just missed everything about him.

"So how have you been Huckleberry? It's been what 3 years?" I asked taking a step back and putting a distance between him

If I stayed that close to him I would not be able to contain my blushing cheeks

Also I'm still kind of annoyed with him, I know I shouldn't be.

I should just get over it, it's been three years but he left me with no goodbye and that hurt me.

"Yeah sorry about not keeping in contact Maya, I actually wanted to ask you if-" He was cut off when Riley walked out with the other girls

What does he want to ask me?

"PEACHES!" She yelled stumbling over to me, yep I think she had drank a bit too much

"I should probably take her home" I said taking her arm and putting it around my neck keeping her up

"LUCAS!" Riley said practically shouting "wow you have got so muscular" he smiled and Riley placed her hand on his arm

"Okay Riles why don't we get you home" I said smiling at her I don't want her to regret anything she might say and this is making me very uncomfortable

"sorry" I mouthed at Lucas as we walked away

Just as I was walking away Lucas passed me something in my hand I didn't look at it I just slipped it into my back pocket.

Once we had got back I helped Riley into her room and put her on the bed taking off her shoes "You okay honey?" I asked putting the covers over her

"I'm great Peaches, goodnight" she said waving at me, I laughed and I went to leave when her phone starting going off somebody was calling her I assumed her parents so I picked it up and answered it

"Hey cutie pie" a guys voice said

"Who is this?" I could kind of recognise the voice but I couldn't really put my finger on who it was

"I might have drank a little to get up the nerves to call you but don't say you don't recognise my voice Riley"

Ummmm? What?

"It's not Riley I answered her phone for her" I informed letting whoever this was know I'm not Riley so he doesn't embarrass himself

"Maya ?" He asked

"Yes?" I hesitated

"It's me Farkle" he said

Wait? Minkus?

Why is he calling her?

"Farkle, wow um hi .... wait why are you calling Riley ? And calling her cute?" He forced a laugh and I could practically feel his embarrassment through the phone

"Umm is she there" he said trying to change the subject

"She's asleep try calling her in the morning"

"Oh okay goodnight Maya" He said ending the call abruptly

um okay so Riley and Farkle I didn't know they were speaking

I wonder why she didn't tell me.

I put her phone back on her desk and left her room shutting the door.

I walked back to my room turning on the light kicking off my boots, I took out some pyjama shorts and top and I walked into my bathroom

I forgot I still had Lucas's hat on until I looked at myself in my bathroom mirror

I smiled and then went and put it on my desk, I then took off my makeup and got dressed in my pyjamas I was about to go and get into bed when I remembered about the piece of paper Lucas gave me

I grabbed my jeans and took it out sitting on my bed, it was a phone number and he wrote 'call me' under it

I don't know why but it put a smile on my face I added his number into my phone and went to sleep.
