An hour later and I had been given the O.K by doctors that my burns had healed nicely, even if they did still hurt, Mike had been overjoyed, and took a shower to celebrate. While he'd showered, I spoke to Brenda about the Rebellion

"so what is it exactly?" I asked, we sat together in her lounge room, which didn't look any different to mine back home, not that it was my home anymore, I reminded myself, not daring to think of why,

"the Rebellion is a large group of mutants that have come together over the years, we all have different gifts, or powers as you call them, as you know, I am telekinetic, Troy can control electricity" at my confused look she explained that 'Troy' was in fact Dr McKoy, turns out Brenda and Dr McKoy were 'happily married'! Speak of the devil, he walked in at that moment, as she was explaining they were married, Mike walked into the lounge, he was dressed in jeans and a dorky t-shirt I guessed he'd borrowed off of Dr McKoy.

"So what are you talking about?" Mike was trying his best to be nice, if only for my sake, I shook my head in reply,

"no, nothing important" he nodded, but didn't seem entirely convinced, I rolled my eyes at him, "Brenda was just telling me about the Rebellion" he raised an eyebrow,

"and?"

"we were just waiting for you, so we could get to the important bits" Brenda filled in for me, Mike sat down beside me and wrapped an arm around my shoulders before kissing my cheek,

"well, I'm here, so you can keep going" I scowled at him

"rude" I muttered, Brenda ignored us both

"well, like I was saying, the Rebellion is made up of all sorts of mutants, who have come for refuge, with all sorts of different gifts.." I interrupted

"not a gift, not if you blew up a restaurant with it, it's not a gift"

"be glad you don't think of it as a curse" Dr McKoy replied, I just shrugged in return

"anyway, as I was saying, we house all mutants, and for those who want to, we train some, to control their powers better, and to make them stronger" I frowned,

"but what about mutants who misuse their powers?" I asked

"well, we try and identify those mutants, and we deal with them according" this time it was Mike who frowned

"how do you mean?" he asked, I could hear a suspicion in his voice, but I ignored it, now also interested in the answer

"well, if a mutant has, say, attacked somebody, they will receive a set number of years behind bars, and depending on their power, a set amount of security, meaning, certain containments, and certain mutants with powers to defeat the opposing mutant, if necessary" Mike only grumbled something incoherent, but I ignored him,

"but anyway, back on topic, our initial purpose, in our visit, was to ask you, if you would like to become a part of the Rebellion?" I opened my mouth to say yes, but was roughly pulled out of the room, before I could say anything

"Mike!" I scolded, "what is your problem?" I looked at him, and he seemed beyond pissed,

"you were going to accept. Weren't you?" he scowled at me, and I stepped back, shocked by his tone, he normally never spoke to me like that,

"Mike, I.." I began to speak, but Mike cut me off

"Kisha, save it" he said, narrowing his eyes, "we don't know these people, how do you know they aren't lying to you? They could be psychopath freaks, for all we know!" his eyes softened slightly, when he saw how distressed his tone was making me, "I'm sorry, Kisha, it's just," he sighed, "I don't trust them, call it whatever you like, I just have this, I don't know feeling, just to, I don't know, I just don't trust them" I looked up at him, his harsh words earlier has brought tears to my eyes, and I fought to keep them from escaping, when one rolled down my cheek, Mike caught it with his finger, and smiled sadly at me, while I brushed away the rest.

"so" I started, Mike looked at me, we were lying together, in a double bed, that Dr McKoy and Brenda had in their spare room, they had agreed we could share a room, as long as there was 'no funny business' as Dr McKoy had put it.

"so?" Mike asked me and I just stared at him blankly

"I don't know" I said finally, shrugging my shoulders, Mike chuckled in response, and rolled onto his back, and looked up at the ceiling,

"what have you decided?" he asked me, without taking his gaze from the cream painted ceiling above us, I shrugged

"you had a good point, but, Mike, I have nowhere to go" I sat up on my elbows, and looked at him, "you saw Ma, she'd rather see me de-...," I couldn't finish saying the word, it had always been a word that I found impossibly hard to say, "you know... Then see me under her roof again" I sighed, "I have no other choice" I shut my eyes and sighed, before I felt Mike stiffen beside me, I looked at him, to see him glaring at me,

"don't say that Kisha, you do have another choice, you have me, my grandparents will happily let you stay with us" I shook my head,

"but that's just it Mike, us, if I stay with you and your grandparents, 'us', will cease to exist, it'll only be you and me, and I'm sorry, but, I have no control over the truth" I looked away from him, my own words ringing in my ears and bringing pain to my heart, but I knew they were true, I'd cease to think of Mike as my loving boyfriend, who is just that, my boyfriend, not my body guard.

"we will never cease to be, Kisha, I swear to you that" he wrapped his arms around me, as he gave me a hug, I wrapped my own around him, before kissing his lips.

"I believe you" I whispered in his ear.

It's so short! Agh I'm so sorry! I didn't mean for it to be short, but it takes me so long to post more, I had to put this up before I start to lose myself, that probably makes no sense but......
