Like silk

from the worm

you spin words,

flowing threads

in vibrant hues -

violets,

crimsons,

and

golds.

Expertly,

you weave,

crafting creations

often exotic,

sometimes erotic,

always gorgeous

and rich.

An ancient Asian tapestry,

with colors that pop

like ripe berries

on my tongue.

I long to wrap myself

in its unfamiliar coolness,

memories of the fingers

that formed it

massaging the soft folds

of my flesh

until it becomes one

with my heart

and my soul.

A/N - According to well-established Chinese legend, Empress Hsi LIng Shi, wife of Emporor Huang Ti, was the first person to accidentally discover silk as a weavable fiber.  One day, when the empress was sipping tea under a Mulberry tree, a cocoon fell into her cup and began to unravel. The empress was so enamored with the shimmering threads, she found their source -  The Bombyx mori silkworm - found in the white mulberry. A silkworm can only produce a certain amount of silk - 1000 meters in its lifespan of 28 days. The rarity of the raw material is the deciding factor of both the value and the mystery of silk.
