In a barren wasteland

Surrounded by dirt and patches of dead grass

A crow circles low in the distance

Not a sound

Everything is still

The smell of death all around

Permeating every corner of my mind

Feelings of despair and loneliness

Walk for what feels like an eternity

There is an object some distance away

As I get closer the smell of death is stronger

Finally get there and realize its a person

Curled up in a ball

Laying on the ground

Hair over their face

Kneeling down gently I roll them over

Brushing their hair away from their face

I fall back in shock and horror

My eyes growing wide

It is I who lay there dead

No soul

My eyes are void of everything

The only thing left

A body picked apart by scavengers

My death brings their life

*This is a dream I have been having of late
