Chapter 6 - A Cam Star Is Born

Kira Orlov was very anxious about doing her first camming show. All night long she had studied the notes that Stefania Toporov had given her, memorized the many English words that were listed, and practiced their correct pronunciation with a software application called Google Translate. She also brushed up on her reading of English so she could understand the first word in a username and then say it like a nickname. Kira also studied Stefania's pronunciation chart that showed her how to vocalize the thirty basic sound-components of English.

        After entering the warehouse, she walked down the main corridor to Stefania's tiny office. Stefania smiled warmly when she saw Kira at her door and asked her new protégé to sit down.

        "Kira, come on in my office, or as I like to call it, the broom closet." She snickered. "Oh, and by the way, Alexey's already picked and registered a cam-name for you. You're going to be KiraCutie. Hope that's okay."

        "Sure, at least it's a fun name. Some of those cam-names can be a little raunchy."

        "Exactly. Alexey's pretty good at making these types of decisions. Anyway, this being your first day and all, I hope you aren't nervous. There's really nothing that can go wrong — even if you make a mistake, no one's really going to notice. Most of the guys realize new girls must learn during their first days, and if a girl is pretty like you, they'll be extra forgiving. But... some viewers can be very rude and we call them trolls, though fortunately trolls are rare among the registered members of WorldsGreatCams. However, if anyone does say something mean or rude, I'll erase their comments and ban them forever from your chatroom. And if you do read something that's abusive, don't take it seriously — that's just the sick nature of an Internet troll. A troll's a little like an angry drunk you might see lying on the sidewalk in a bad neighborhood. If a drunk were to say you're ugly, you wouldn't pay any attention because you'd know he's half out of his head. However, because we can't see an Internet troll, we tend to think he's more respectable than a drunk who lies on the sidewalk — but that's just an illusion. If we could actually see a troll in his own surroundings, we'd know his life is just as pathetic as a drunk's who pees in his pants."

        "But with all these beautiful girls to look at, why would a guy need to say mean things?"

        "Kira, it's a mental disease, like the way some people enjoy hurting small animals. Humanity is an enigma; it's always been capable of great kindness and great cruelty. It is what it is. As camgirls, it's not our job to understand — just to erase and ban when we see that kind of behavior."

        "Okay, Stefania. I really don't see me becoming offended by a troll, but thanks for the warning. Let's go, I'm ready. And don't think the nudity and sexy stuff will be an issue. All last night I've been hard at work — standing in front of a mirror and practicing how to fondle myself." They both snickered.

        The two young women walked down the hallway to their small studio room. Kira changed into violet lingerie while Stefania set up the video camera and lighting. Then Kira walked over to the futon sofa, sat down, and began to warm up by creating different poses for the camera. And at the same time, Stefania seated herself at a computer in the rear of the room and completed her preparations for the broadcast. Upon her lap, she rearranged the cardboard cue cards that would show the English phrases that Kira should speak into the microphone.

        Stefania turned on the video camera and confirmed its image upon her computer's display. That also caused the video feed to render onto Kira's computer. And now that Kira could see herself upon a computer, her poses became more provocative. With a toss of her head, she threw her hair back and began to practice a seductive gaze while slowly moving her head to different angles. Stefania was impressed; Kira did indeed have the instincts of a fashion model when it came to striking a pose for the camera.
