Ethan was one of the first to arrive in the maze along with Alby, Gally, and Newt. When he arrived he already had his chain with the name 'Locke' engraved on the pendant that hung in the middle. He has no memory of his life before the maze so he took on the engraved term as his name. As time went on Ethan, along with another glader, decided to explore the maze. He was the only one to make it back alive but he was able to assist Alby in forging a map that outlined the maze. What the group didn't know was that the maze would change around every night and a new map would have to be formed. More and more people came until they gained the amount of glasses they have today. Ethan leads the group of runners that go to explore the maze.
