Friends with Benefits

I sat at home watching the hockey game that played on the tv. Of course I would watch my best friend's game. Just because I couldn't be there for him, doesn't mean I wouldn't watch Tyler play.

"Go! Go, go, go! Shoot! Yes! Yes Ty, yes!" I shouted.

"Tyler Seguin with the goal!" The announcer shouted. "His first goal of the playoffs! This kid has a gift, I don't care what anyone else has to say. He's going places in this league.

"Of course he's going places, he's got talent and heart," I muttered. I watched as Tyler celebrated with his team

"That was the last game until the Stanley Cup folks. Please stay tuned and wait until after- Woah! Woah, woah! It looks like there's a fight breaking out on the ice. Seguin versus Wennburg! This is a very unlikely fight! Wennburg punching up and under Seguin's padding while Seguin has him in a headlock." I leaned forward in my seat.

"Oh my god, Tyler, no..." I watched as the refs broke up the fight and Ty smirk at Wennburg before he started to walk off of the ice.

"Here we are with Tyler Seguin. Tyler, what was it like to score your first goal in the playoffs?" the woman asked. Tyler glanced up from his gloves as he took them off to answer the question.

"Uh, well, I mean it's a pretty great feeling, Scoring the goal isn't all on just one person though so I owe it to the guys. I owe it to the people that got me here, uh, my mom, uh, my best friend." I felt butterflies erupt in my stomach.

"And who is that exactly?" she asked. Tyler rubbed that back of his neck shyly and I could see the red that started to tint his cheeks.

"Y/N, she's been there for me when my mom can't be, so I guess you all can thank her for some of my success," he smiled. I squealed. God help me. If only he liked me back, this life would be so much easier.

"Where will you go after tonight's game?" The reporter asked, a flirtatious tone in her voice.

"Uh, hopefully to see Y/N. I mean, she's the closest to me right now, so I gotta deal with her," he joked. I laughed along with him as the reporter ended the interview.

"Shit!" I shouted. "I have to get ready..." I shot up from my seat and started to clean up my apartment.

"Y/N?" Tyler yelled. I quickly shut my closet door and ran down the stairs. "Woah! Hey!" he shouted as I ran smack into his chest. "Hey," he said a little quieter as he took in my appearance.

"Hi, I said breathlessly as my eyes scanned over his face, a bruise resting on his cheekbone and his jaw bruised right where it angles up. I brought a hand up and rested it on his cheek. "You said you wouldn't fight," I whispered. Tyler's face instinctively leaned into my touch.
