Winged Magician Valkyria:

It didn't look so large from the outside, but once you came inside it was gigantic. Her eyes roamed the halls, trying to find some indication of where she was supposed to go but it just wasn't there.

Val had walked each hall, she was nearly twenty minutes late for her first class, and still.. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

There was not a room 345 in this building, because if there had been, she'd have surely seen it by now. It was ridiculous, she decided, she shouldn't have bothered with coming to this school. She should have dropped out like she'd been planning to do.

But noooo, her dad wouldn't have anything to do with it. Well maybe if her dad was forced to be lost in such a small school with a schedule that obviously had the wrong numbers for the classrooms, he'd let her drop out.

She was too shy to drop in on a class to ask for directions, and nobody else was around. She also didn't want to go back to the main office after a half hour, asking to be led to her first class. She'd just be laughed at.

Sighing, she plopped down in the middle of the hallway, deciding she'd just sit there until class let out and get directions to her second class instead.

"Oomph!"

Valerie yelped in pain as someone tripped over her unnaturally long legs before slamming loudly into the ground.

"Oh! Oh I'm so sorry!" Val cried, pushing herself off the wall she leaned against in order to help the man who'd tripped over her up.

"It's fine, no problem! Say, I haven' seen you before, ya must be new!"

"Um.. Yeah. My name is Mitsuko Valerie, but you can call me Val." Valerie tucked a loose strand of dark blond hair behind her ears, feeling particularly naked at the lack of her usual baby-blue beanie.

She always had been a bit of an oddball, wearing something as common as a beanie with something so unusual as her homemade dresses. She never had cared either, only now she kind of cared. She didn't want to be seen in something like what she was wearing by a guy who looked like that!

The boy, who stood only a few inches taller than her grinned. His deep yellow hair was styled nicely yet he had managed to make it look as if he didn't try hard at all. He wore jeans, a white t-shirt and a jacket.

"Ah right, the name's Joey Wheeler, nice to meet ya!"

American, then. She'd always heard how Americans were rude and fat and obsessed with Japan, and anime.. But he wasn't fat and he didn't seem rude. He was really cute too, she realized. She had never seen an American as cute as he was; but that wasn't saying much as she hadn't seen many Americans period.

"You look lost, do ya need some help?"

Relief swept through her at the thought of actually finding her class. "Yes! My schedule says room 345 but it isn't here, I've been searching for over twenty minutes."

"It's outside, behind the school. But class will be ova soon so how's about you and me hang out til next class and I'll show ya to that one?"

Behind the school? What kind of school had a room outside behind the school? Val shook that thought out of her head before realizing what Joey Wheeler had said.

"Oh um.. Yeah okay, that sounds okay, we won't get in trouble will we?"

"Nah, I know jus' the place to keep outta the teacha's way."

The next twenty minutes paved the path towards an amazing friendship which would last well past marriage, and perhaps even until death do them part.
