Narrative: Crystal Mining, Mountain Climbing
One day we went to the crystal mine
We drove and drove and drove for a while
The scenery didn't change much through the drive
Green pines lined the edge of the dirt road
Many signs directed us there
When we finally arrived we all climbed out
Gratefully we breathed in the air
We walked around a bit
Looking for a nice shady spot
We dropped our cooler there
Then we climbed up the mountain
As we hiked we kept an eye out
For quartz and other minerals
But the grand prize we really wanted
Was none other than the crystal
The tantalizing beauty tried to conceal itself
But before long I found it
Underneath a pile of quartz
We searched for more treasures
And succeeded most of the time
Half an hour later we rested and ate lunch
I ate my sandwhich hungrily
And crunched on my tasty chips
Not long after we were back up again
My dad and I decided to climb to the top
Slow and steady we trekked
Very careful not to fall
Finally we made it looking out across the sky
The view was unbelievable
I couldn't take it all in at once
We stood there staring at our surroundings
The closest way to describe it was paradise
The mountains seemed as high as Mount Everest
After several breathtaking minutes
My father and I began to hike back down
Once I slipped and fell on my elbow
Ruby red blood oozed out of my cut
I shrugged it off and continued walking
Soon we located my mom with my little baby brother
We dug some more with a shiny pick-ax
We didn't find much so we went further downhill
There we discovered the rest of our family
Some were relaxing while others searched for the last crystals
I nibbled on my granola bar
While waiting for the van to be packed
Minutes later we clambered back in the car
And resumed the long drive back to the house
We mostly entertained ourselves by singing to the radio
Or taking short cat naps
Soon we were back home safe and sound
I will never forget that wonderful day
A once-in-a-lifetime experience
That I'll never forget
