        Prologue

"That's an awfully long list, Scarlett." Lisa was scanning the paper her best friend had just handed to her. She knew that they had agreed for Scarlett to make a list, but Lisa was not expecting a list so detailed and well , long.

Scarlett shrugged. "I couldn't stop once I got started. I had to put down everything that my brain could think of."

Lisa laughed. She wasn't sure if this was such a good idea, and she told Scarlett just that.

"Why not? You suggested it anyways." Scarlett argued. She worked so hard on this list and had her mind all made up. Sure she might've gotten a little bit carried away with the list, but according to Scarlett, Lisa shouldn't have expected anything else because she knows how much of a perfectionist Scarlett is.

"Well, Scar, to find a man with everything which is written on this list, well that would take a lifetime. Let's be real here, I'm not so sure that all men are as perfect as Jack from Titanic." Lisa explained.

"Well I'm not looking for a Jack, Lisa. He dies anyways, don't you remember? And, although sacrifice for love is heart warming and all, I need a man who would share that plank with me and stay alive so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life alone." Scarlett continued with the Titanic references.

Lisa laughed, raising her hands up in defeat. She had no clue that the harmless, drunk, conversation she was having with Scarlett a few days ago, would mean so much. The two girls were talking about so much that day and eventually started discussing relationships and their ideal man. They got carried away listing endless qualities they look for in a man and somehow it led to Lisa drunkenly suggesting Scarlett, that Scarlett should make a list and then date men and find out whether or not they are a perfect match for her.

And of course Scarlett was too eager to agree, since she was dating online anyways and trying to settle down. Plus if a neat, organized, list is involved, Scarlett is always in.

Then, one thing led to another and soon the conversation Lisa and Scarlett had a couple days ago didn't seem so harmless anymore.

"So we're actually doing this?" Lisa asked Scarlett, as she looked over the list one more time. "Scarlett's Mr. Perfect List; you could've at least chosen a more creative title." Lisa chuckled.

"Yes we are actually doing this! I have a date with a guy tomorrow." Scarlett replied, choosing to ignore the last part of what Lisa said.

"So you're just going to analyse him and use this list a check list basically?" Lisa asked.

                "Yup, that's the plan."

Lisa raised an eyebrow. "Well what if there is one thing on your list which doesn't fit?"

"Then he's not Mr. Perfect." Scarlett replied quickly.

"You have to give him room for some mistakes at least, Scar. How about three strikes? If a maximum of three things on the list aren't checked off, then you can try to consider him as your Mr. Perfect." Lisa negotiated, scanning the list a third time, her eyes pausing for a second at a few ridiculous points.

Scarlett groaned, thinking over what Lisa had suggested. She figured that the three strikes thing wouldn't be too bad, and she could at least consider the guy.

"All right, fine." Scarlett said at last. "Three strikes and then he's out."

Lisa nodded. "You're one hundred percent sure you want to do this, Scarlett?"

Scarlett wasn't sure why Lisa kept asking the same question again and again. Of course Scarlett was sure, and she thought she had made that bit clear to her best friend.

                "Yes Lisa, I am positive."

"I just don't want to see you getting hurt Scar. After Brian especially, I can't bear to see you like that ever again." Lisa explained. She was worried that this list may start off as something fun, but may lead to Scar getting her heart broken again, and Lisa could not stand the thought of seeing her best friend in so much pain, a second time.

Scarlett sighed. Why did Lisa have to bring up Brian, she thought. She ignored the pang she felt in her chest thinking about him.

"It won't be anything like Brian." Scarlett whispered.

Lisa hugged her best friend. Although the more rational side of Lisa was telling her to convince Scarlett to drop the list idea, Lisa knew that this list may be exactly what Scarlett needed to finally get over Brian.

"Okay then it's settled. We're actually doing this Scar!" Lisa said, trying to cheer her friend up.

It worked because Scarlett grinned. "Yes we are, Lise!"

"But wait, Scarlett! Don't you think we should have like a name or something for this list thing? We can't just call it 'The List Thing' forever." Lisa said.

Scarlett smiled at her best friend. She already knew what she was going to call the list thing. And Scarlett was sure that Lisa would love this name too.

"This starts tomorrow Lisa." Scarlett said, trying to be mysterious.

"What starts tomorrow?" Lisa looked confused.

Scarlett smirked. "The Mr. Perfect Project."
