I'm happy to share with my Wattpad readers, writers, and friends that today I received word from the international Wishing Shelf Awards that LOU'S TATTOOS has received a Red Ribbon award from readers and judges in the UK and Sweden.

Entries for the 2017 awards closed on December 31 of last year, and after nearly nine months of hearing nothing, I was absolutely certain the judges held my efforts in utter disdain. In fact, I was sure they hated the book so much, they couldn't even bring themselves to send me their opinion.

I was wrong.  Just like YOU are wrong when you think your work is horrible.  You wrote it, and you are not nothing, so your work is definitely not nothing.  Let today's news be a reminder to all of us to keep writing, have faith that readers will find value in your words, and be patient.

Readers' Comments

'Rather a funny book. The pacing is excellent, and the characters work well in this light sort of story. The cover, although of excellent quality, is perhaps a little too young for the story – I thought it was for children when I saw it. All in all, a perfect book for sitting on a beach with.' Female reader, aged 49

'This book is primarily a comedy and, most of the time, it hits the mark.' Male reader, aged 55

'A goofy read. But that's okay. Not heavy, not deep, just fun.' Male reader, aged 46

'A good romantic comedy populated with slightly oddball characters and a well-planned plot. A few twists here and there and a satisfying ending. If you are looking for a breezy read, this would do the job perfectly well.' Female reader, aged 69

To Sum It Up:

'A wonderfully fun romantic comedy. A Red Ribbon Winner and highly recommended.' The Wishing Shelf Book Awards
