Thin ice

It's been a few weeks that you stayed with nate

You where surprised of how well he kept his settlements running

Even though Preston annoyed you and nate to help out with lots of different settlements

It felt nice to see the happy faces, there smiles.. especially now that winter is just around the corner, they need all the worth and help they can get

Wake up in Nate's old house you noticed the air was different

Looking out the window
You noticed little white snow

It just started

The light layer of snow slowly covered the ground

Quickly getting up and pull your boots
You run outside and stuck your tongue out letting a snowflake land on it

It was probably not a good idea of letting radiation snow fall in your mouth
But you didn't care
You loved the cold feeling

Feeling the cold breeze run threw you
You heard a voice behind you

"It's dangerous to go like that.. here,take this.. ahaha get it?" nate asked
"No?..ok" he said as he hands you a brown coat

You recognize the coat, it was nicks when you first met him

Putting it on you felt love
Feeling the warmth of it reminds you of the life in the cabin
Life in diamond city before.. well, you know

Pushing the thought away
You looked over at nate

He was wearing his light brown pants with a white shirt underneath him crawled out Dogmeat

You laughed as Dogmeat tried to eat the snowflakes

Heading back inside sitting at the table in between the kitchen and the living room

You watched as nate heat up water

"Want coffee?" He asked

"Coffee? What's that?" You asked

"You don't know what coffee is?" He asked surprised
You moved your head is saying no

"Remember nate.. I'm not prewar like you.." you said as you pet Dogmeat with your foot as he lays down on his back enjoying the belly rub

"Right.. coffee is this type of bean that can be broken down and make hot water to black.. and when it's black, it strong and usually tastes bitter" he explained as he pulled out brown powder

"Is that it?" You asked pointing it out

"Yeah.. wanna try mixing it?" He asked handing you the mug with hot water and the coffee in the spoon

Slowly you dipped the powder in watching the powder spread

"Wooaaah.. the looks cool!" You said

"Yeah, now just mix it around with the spoon" he said
You listened and spun the spoon around watching the water turn fully black

Nate picked up the mug and took a sip

"Aah, nothing better than radiation coffee in a cold morning.. want some?" He ask hanging you the mug

Slowly you took a sip from the mug

You felt the drink run down
Your face turned wrinkly by the bitterness of the drink

Nate laughed

"It's not funny!" You yelled
