It was almost dawn on a Saturday. I slipped into the brightest, most colorful dress I could find, and grabbed the printed multicolored cards and clear tape stacked on my nightstand. Whistling, I headed outside my house and slapped my sneakers onto the asphalt. I started walking towards the bakery at the corner of Cupid and Psyche. I taped a blue card onto the glass door of the bakery, right next to the CLOSED sign.Skipping away, I turned and found myself in front of the post office. The sky was still slightly dark, the sun not yet peeking. The front desk with the glass pane and a hole cut into the bottom was empty. I taped a bright yellow card onto the glass.
The newspaper office on Birchbird was lit. A pretty lady sat typing away at her desk, oblivious to my taping of a mint green card on the door.
The sun was just beginning to peek. I found a late-model car parked on the side of the street. I grabbed my tape and put an orange card on the driver's side window.
