Chapter Four

“Oh so you do remember me,” He/she grinned. Acario instantly pushed me behind him and Flora and Tyler appeared in front of him, “Oh look, your personal army has come to your rescue.” It was then that I noticed a silver chord attached to the girl’s body and the spirit of the girl was floating close to her body looking rather bemused.

Acario bared his fangs, showing his vampire face to Ben, “Stay away from her.” He said in a voice which sent shivers down my spine, and not in the good way.

Ben easily knocked him against the wall, “Your strength is nothing compared to mine. I will also get what I want,” He stepped closer to me but before he could touch me, Abel appeared and sent Ben flying backwards.

“Liana, there is a Rowan tree just around the corner, run to it and make sure that Ben also touches it, I’ll do the rest.” And with that I ran. I spotted the Rowan tree and sprinted towards it, hearing Ben close behind me,

“You can’t run from me, Liana, I will catch you,” And as if to demonstrate this, he easily caught up to me and flung me, luckily, towards the Rowan tree. I landed on the ground with a jarring shock, the breath being knocked out of me and I heard an ominous crack from my arm along with a searing pain. Tears sprang to my eyes and I tried to clear my head, trying to ignore the pain. Using my good arm, I pushed myself up and pressed my back against the tree, facing Ben. Tyler and Flora stood in front of me but I knew they could do nothing.

“How are you back in a body?” I questioned, trying to figure out a way to make him touch the tree.

“There was a necromancer close by which helped me out. He knows all about you as well, Liana. He gave me permission to kill you,” The twisted grin looked out of place on the pretty girls face.

I shivered, “Why does he want me dead?”

Ben shrugged, “No idea. All I know is if I don’t succeed then he’d send more to come after you. Now enough with this talking, let’s get this over with,” With that his fist came flying at my face, which I surprisingly dodged. Flora and Tyler also dodged and soon stood next to me,

“Good duck, Liana,” Tyler said, a note of admiration in his voice.

I moved out of Ben’s strike zone and grinned as he tried to free himself, “You really should have read up on your weaknesses, superman. The Rowan tree is a trap for evil spirits, now Abel here is going to send you to where you should be.” I watched as Abel placed his hand onto Ben/the girl and chanted something in Latin. The girl’s body convulsed and then collapsed as Abel spoke the last word.

“He has gone now, you may return to your body,” Abel was talking to the girl who was floating next to her body. Slowly she lowered herself into her body until she was submerged and her bodies eyes opened.

“Oh my god. What the hell just happened?”

Abel turned to me with a gentle smile on his face, “You may explain everything to her . Flora and Tyler, I need you to come with me.” Tyler and Flora nodded, “Until later, Liana,” With that all three disappeared leaving me with an extremely confused girl and a broken arm.

“Liana!” Acario came racing over and pushed me back, away from the girl, “Run, Liana!” He looked poised to strike.

“Acario! Stop! He’s gone!” I grabbed his arm with my good one and forced him to face me, “Abel got rid of him. This is the real girl. Calm down.”

Acario eyed the girl suspiciously, “Are you sure?”

“Positive. Now we need to explain everything to this girl and then go to the hospital.”

That made Acario snap his attention back to me, “Hospital? Are you hurt?”

“Just a broken arm.”

Acario grabbed my good arm and turned to the girl, “If you want to know what happened you can come along with us but we are going to the hospital right now.” With that he started dragging me towards the car park, ignoring the girl.

“Uh…ok I am all for drama so I’m coming!” The girl followed after us, “So my name’s Jenny, nice to meet you.”

I smiled at the girl, trying to slow Acario down, “My  name is Liana and that guy there is Acario. Sorry, normally he’s not so…” I paused, trying to think of a word, “Fast but I guess this situation isn’t really normal. So anyway you must have lots of questions.”

“Hell yeah. Like is he single?” She raised her eyebrows at Acario and grinned naughtily making me laugh.

“You just got possessed and the first questions you ask is if Acario’s single? Your priorities are messed up. Anyway, no, he’s mine.” I saw a twitch of a smile grace Acario’s face. He was obviously enjoying our conversation.

“Oh that is a shame. Well I’m not sure how well it would work out with that whole creepy face he has. I hope that’s not his sex face.”  I burst out laughing. I loved this girl.

“Liana don’t laugh at that! How is your arm? I wish I had driven to uni today, it’ll be another ten minutes or so until we can get home.”

“I have a car,” Jenny piped up, “I’ll drive you guys to the hospital, it’s the least I can do after you saved me from having an icky boy in my body. It’s just over there,” She pointed to a blue 97 corolla.

“You are a legend!” I exclaimed, my arm throbbing in pain. I really did not enjoy having a broken arm.

Jenny shrugged with a grin, “I know. Now let’s get your broken arse to the ER! And on the way you are going to explain everything to me."
