"Lovers' Spat" by hmmcghee

"My Dear, do not so think to kiss me.

You said just one hour; now it is three.

Your dinner has grown cold,

And my lips I withhold.

You are late, once again, so I see."

"Sweetie, I have a very good cause.

Traffic today was all at a pause.

I got stuck behind it,

Could not go around it,

And, Honey, that’s just the was it was."

"That’s the same excuse from yesterday,

When we made plans to go to a play,

But I was not fooled then,

Yet you try it again.

The beer on your breath gives you away."

"So, I had a few drinks with the guys.

I was cautious, and my head stayed wise.

My job is getting rough,

The days, so very tough,

And I needed a chance to unwind."

"My days are not so easy, you know.

The kids are cranky; the summer’s been slow

They fuss and fight all day

And won’t go out to play.

I have no sympathy for your woe."

"I am sorry to be late, My Sweet.

Come upstairs, and I will rub your feet.

For if you please, Husband,

I will make it up and,

Give your little man an extra treat."
