To you who stand on guard in bronze in memories in dreams and in downpours, outpourings – rain and tears and poppies thrown from bridges to float away on breezes and seas you crossed, all of you.

To you who went to war in uniform in formation and in storm, kept warm – sunshine and blankets and thoughts of home, all of us.

To you who came back with your stories or your silence in kit-bags of camaraderie, triumph and regret.

To you who did not and are remembered lest we forget.

To you who were families, friends and colleagues, brothers in arms.

To you who are known, unknown, unknowing, never alone.

In silence you stand a symbol to all.

In silence we stand with bowed head.
