UNREQUITED LOVE

I looked across and there she was,

An exquisite dream in reality,

As she walked her hallowed steps, she gave me cause

To admire and cherish God's creativity.

Her celestial beauty mesmerized me,

Her intense eyes stoked fire in my yearning heart,

Her pretty mannerisms evoked inundating joy,

Oh, she was vivacious, vibrant as well as coy.

I spent my hectic days and rambunctious nights,

Imagining her lovely face before my star-struck eyes,

To hold her delectable body forever in my arms,

I'd gladly gamble away all my own till I broke the dice.

I thwacked home runs by the dozen,

As by the bleachers she danced and pirouetted;

Surreptitious glances I stole of her,

A smile in my direction was what I most craved.

Gorgeous gushing girls galore over me fawn,

Batting fake eyelashes at me as I walk by them,

But to her I'm just a glorified gnome on a lawn,

When will she notice me, this elegant dame?

I have a feeling my time will soon come,

Just have to put in that extra bit effort

To get her to notice earnest lover-boy me,

That she's not yet taken, is my big comfort.
