The Center of Research and Development at the R.O.M.G (Restoration of Mutated Genes) corporation is working late into the night on a secret project. An airborne virus that would open up the mind of the infected, allowing them to use more than 10% of their brain. Everything was going well, the animal testing had shown favorable results. However, the human testing wasn't going as well.
The test volunteers were dying. The drug's effects were too much for the normal human mind to handle. Their minds were being opened up, but it was happening too fast for the body to handle, causing the bodies to overheat and essentially cook themselves from the inside out.
The trails on humans stopped, but they hadn't been stopped soon enough. Point Zero, a clean-up worker at the facility had somehow come in contact with the virus, with no effects at all. Immune, but still a carrier, Point Zero showed the virus to the outside world, effectively putting an end to the world as any human knew it.
