Wind ripped through the Irish sailor's hair as she stared through the Burning Plains.

The sounds of battle began to resound in her ears as she ran, ran as fast as she could to see the two dragons weaving in a beautiful aerial battle. Jesse had a terrible foreboding feeling, one that struck her before.

Somehow, her strange senses told her that they would crash just there. She closed her eyes and covered her face as a blast of heat made way for impact. When she opened them, the two mysterious Riders were tangled in the red dragon's saddle as they landed. This time, the girl forged on, not caring anymore about the fires enlarging from the gusts of wind under Saphira's wings.

Before Jesse could get close enough, the red one smashed his tail in front of her, punctuating his point with a growl and a close glare from his cat-like eye. Saphira snarled at the dragon's daring to threaten the girl, but froze as she was caught up in some enemy spell.

She could hear Eragon shout out a counter-spell, but there was no hum in the air.

From where she could see, the other Rider's helm was thrown off; it lay somewhere near Saphira's foot. He was facing Eragon, speaking with him, but the sailor ignored it. That hair, it was so familiar....

Then he turned.
