I set my alarm for 3.15 AM and then made sure I had packed everything, and that mum would see the note on the fridge. I switched the light off and closed my eyes, begging for sleep to come. It didn’t, so when it was 3.10 AM I turned my alarm clock off to avoid waking my mum up, I called a taxi and made myself breakfast, I stole some more money out of my mother purse, she wouldn’t mind, I would use it to keep in contact with her.

The taxi arrived and I pretended to call out to my mother that I loved her and I couldn’t wait to see her soon, it was raining, so the taxi driver probably thought that was why my mum hadn’t come out. I asked the driver to drive me to the New York airport, I must have fallen asleep on the drive there, because I was woken by the taxi driver when we arrived at the airport, I had to dig to the bottom of my bag to get my wallet and plane ticket out, I paid the driver and gave him a generous $20.00 tip. I checked in at the airport and was directed to my first class luxury seat. I fell asleep automatically.
