The Things We Say

The Things We Say

Some don't say

But some believe

"Once happiness comes

It never leaves"

I for one

Believe in blame,

That in life "You lose

More than you gain"

Though some say

"Nothing is solved when you run"

They count to three

And pull the trigger on the gun.

Others think "You lie

enough, you start to believe"

Obsessed with absent flaws

Themselves they deceive.

And some tell you

"Happiness is key"

They take the knife

And watch themselves bleed.

I say, "Smile,

It will make someone's day"

Yet all it does is

rain, even in the month of May.

She says "Iv'e got

Nothing to hide"

Yet she walks around

Telling nothing but lies.

We say "If I go down,

I'm going down fighting"

Yet all we do is fight,

Hence the poem I'm writing.
