Apocalyptic Passion

Chapter 1: We had perpetrated it.

It had happened.
Everyone knew it would, but no one even imagined it could happen so soon.
"not in our time", "not as long as we live"
These were what parents used to tell their children. But no one was ever sure, they were only empty words.
What were we expecting?
It was known, whenever people tried to interfere with nature, it would result in endangering our world, our lives, it could even result in endangering our species.
Which could lead to our extinction.
It's in our blood, in our genes perhaps; The craving for immortality and uncovering every secret that lies in this universe. It is not however always evil, yes, but must accept this truth that we do not know, cannot know EVERYTHING. And that makes us quite imperfect. If we understand things, the things we create, imperfect, then we may not always get to know how to control them.
And this is what causes catastrophes.
