I have always been a dreamer to a certain extent. I would lay on my bed for hours, fabricating illusory and beguiling scenarios in my head and that was the main reason why I was blind to everything around me. I believed and trusted people easily, always believing the best of them but that's not life.

Life is not a series of self-generated memories nor is it as simple as it seems. Life is a never-ending cobweb of complications and anything that could go wrong, would go wrong.

This is not only a story about chemistry nor about two best friends who eventually fell for each other despite every obstacle placed in front of them. This is a story of life, of reality.

And when you've finally got a dose of reality, life would eventually gradually return back to its primal simplicity, back to the peace you would find within yourself.

Maybe not now, not tomorrow but someday.

Someday.

Okay I was partly lying in the disclaimer thing because honestly, this story was inspired by my undying love for chemistry and of course, my first love. Not everything in the story is real but the rough plot of it (excluding the competition) was actually what I actually experienced in my life and it has taught me tons of lessons in life and I hope that by sharing this with you all, it would inspire you too and give you all the strength and will you need to live life to the fullest.

This story is for the blessed, the broken and the living.

Every winter, Crossvale High would hold a competition within the school for the eleventh form, as said to spice things up for the winter. It was tradition for the top boy and top girl of the form to go through a series of preparation for the ultimate finale, the Winter Agon.

It was almost foreseeable by everyone that Brienne Summers, the popular and pretty chemistry genius, and Kaden Austin, the unapproachable but undeniably irresistible biology genius would unquestionably be chosen.

Each year, the respective competitors fight it out for the fame and the hefty sum of reward. Every 365 days, a new pair of enemies would be born.

People expect the two constantly bickering best friends to finally turn against each other and unleash the hate they had for each other that was supposedly brewing beneath the surface. After all, they were too different.

However, they were soon to be disappointed.
