I'm Benna Penington, living in a lonely little city you will have never heard of. But that's not the point. I'm turning 17 in 4 days and i cherish the little things in life. From making a sandcastle at the beach, to watching a funny movie, to... oh i don't know, baking a cake! I was diagnose with leukimia a year ago and have never told a soul. The only people with knowledge of this are my parents, my 22 year old sister Marianne, and my 20 year old brother Alec. I'd rather people not feel sorry for me and just be my friend out of pity. "Oh she's sick. Be nice to her." The truth is, i all ready have the best friends somebody could ever ask for. Although I've never had a boyfriend, or experienced my first kiss, i realize i can't be waiting and be ready to expect the things happening in my life. I have to just lay back and let my destinations take me in.
I never really looked at me having leukemia as an... illness, but more as an obstacle. I consider myself special. Not that it's great thing to have, because it isn't. It's very painful for me, and my family. But, i feel that god knows i will be able to get through it, so he gave it to me because he knew someone else wouldn't be a ble to handle it. And so... I didn't tell my friend's when i found out because i knew they wouldn't be able to handle the idea of it. I mean, who really can? But once i met him... i realized what's going on in my life. I'm a 17 year old girl with leukemia, and who knows how much more time i have.

I was walking through the halls with some of my favorite people in the world, Briel, Skya, and Annie. My other best friend Hannah was at the nurse for some strange reason. It was just before lunch so we stopped in the bathroom like we always do.
"So Benny, I noticed you and Jake talking," Briel said over the stall. Briel is the tall, althletic, outgoing, perfect chocolate skinned, beautiful dark brown haired best friend of mine. I'm a little jealous of all of my friends.
"Ya, and?" I replied. Briel thinks him and i have a "thing". Which we don't.
"And-" Briel started to reply but Skya butted in.
"And we see you two talking an awful lot lately! Oolala!" Skya says while laughing in the mirror next to the sinks. Skya has long thick brown hair with blonde highlights. She wears green contacts and is very tan. She's the brains of the group although she sometimes lacks a little sense. Although we all still love her.
"Really Skya! I would've liked to have finished my sentence on my own. So darn silly!" Briel said as we all started laughing.
As Briel and I walked out of the stall to where Annie and Skya were standing i said," Actually we really only text so there is no reason to oolala."
"Ya why is that? He texts you like all the time but yet he like... ignores you in school!" Briel chimed in.
"Well I think it's cute benny," Annie commented with a grin. Annie is the nice, straight haired, blonde one. She's tall but pale and very smart, although she never does her homework until the period before it's due. probably because she's so involved in every academic club there is.
"Thanks Annie," i replied," but there really isn't anything between me and Jake, trust me!"
"Fine, fine, fine. But can we please get to lunch! We're starving!" Briel and Skya say at the same time. We may all be thin but we eat more than the whole schools football team.

Benna Penington- Dark brown Hair and eyes. wears glasses, contacts ocassionaly. short yet thin. fairly tan but pale compared to others. has side bangs and is most fashionabe of her grade. she averages all A's and is friends with practically everyone. she tries to stay away from drama and guys although sometimes fails at both. but within her circle of friends, nothing can break them up.
