I had a bouquet of roses. I had a cute outfit. And I had me.
Hopefully that was enough.
I told Olivia to meet me in the library. I didn't want to ask her to homecoming around a lot of people, but I didn't want it to be too private. I wanted to be able to run if she said no.
I study my wedges.
Then I look up.
Olivia's walking in, her dark hair trailing behind her. She's smiling. God, she's pretty when she smiles.
"Hi," she says quietly. She interlaces her fingers in front of her.
I gulp. "Hey. Um. Olivia. I, uh, have to ask you something." I can't bail now. I'm all the way in.
She gives me a lopsided smile. "oh, yeah?"
I nod. "Um. Yeah."
Her smile is full-on now. "What?"
"Er, I was just wondering if... if you'll go to homecoming with me?" I hold out my flowers.
"Oh, Mia!" she exclaims. She pulls me in and kisses me. I forget where and who I am. All I know is her.
"Um. Mia?"
