After spending an hour in the school hanging by the back entrance where the janitors came in, one finally came to save us... or me. At some point in the creepy darkness after he finished all his laughing-his-ass-off at me, he'd disappeared within the school and left me alone to try and explain all the random noises and patter of feet

Not that I cared much, once my stomach started grumbling I'd decided to blame all the noises on it

After hugging the janitor three times and repeatedly saying thanks, I started my journey home through the dark streets of the town. The noises were more normal out here except for the eerie darkness. For years, my parents tried to get lights put up all around the city but was denied for 'unspecified reasons' and later the city decided to place lights up at least 20 feet away from each other

Talking about creepy? It looked like this place jumped out of a Scooby Doo! movie. But yet the town was still graceful covered in a thin layer of white while roses and other flowers bloomed in every bush. The crime was even at a new all time low, and the people seemed nice on the surface. I was sure that one day all these assumptions I had about this town would bite me in the ass.

At home, my mom prepared dinner while my dad watched sports, ignoring my existence like usual. My older sister strutted circles in the kitchen trying to get approval on dresses from my mom while our brother Noel silently judged her with words ranging from "whore" to "slut" and even "what the hell, bitch, it's a winter masquerade. Not a strip club" which I agreed after sitting there for awhile and becoming disgusted with how much they showed

"Oh. Hey" Noel whispered, nudging me in the arm gently and I glanced around the room before pointing to myself in fake confusion "You won't talk to me in public, but suddenly you'll talk to me at home?"

"Don't be so harsh. I heard you got in trouble today, just wanted to give you a heads up:" he paused, glancing around the room as I had done earlier to see if anyone noticed and then continued "Dad is taking all of your electronics. I suggest you hide your MP3 player before he finds all that devil worshipping music" he cracked a smile once he finished what he was saying and I bit back the urge to punch him, and/or bite his head off. But agreed anyway and ran off to go hide my precious

The youngest of us all pranced around in her room on her fake, very non-existent horse, being the odd four year old girl that she was, and talked to her imaginary friends which became her favourite hobby over time. I kind of envied the fact that I never had imaginary friends because I was the skeptical child that believed everything needed a foundation to be real

It was a hard decision to make but I decided to sit with Emily and her imaginary friends until dinner got ready

"Mommy says no" she mumbled, smiling straight ahead at the nothingness in her room before glaring towards me "He doesn't like you" immediately, her mood changed from adorable kid to Child of Satan Summons The Beast. Her hair dangled over her eyes, which were full of tears and sadness.

I forced a smile, trying to remember the names of her friends.

Last I checked, I hadn't offended any of them. But I have seen enough scary movies to know that this could probably end badly

"Which one doesn't like me?" I managed to say, pulling my knees up to my chest and biting down into them like an edible source of food.

"Andrew.... Andrew doesn't like you"
