During 1916, Bulgaria had declared war on Serbia, and with Austria-Hungary, completely pushed back the Serbians, and the Serbians were forced to retreat along the Albanian Mountains.
Meanwhile, the Russians are getting pushed back, and they start the Brusilov Offensive,
The offensive succeeds initially, but is pushed back.
The Romanians joined the Russians, thinking they could gain land, they pushed, but were pushed back further.
Japan had also taken over the German colonies in Asia, with Australia.
During 1916, the Germans launched an offensive on the French Fortress of Verdun.
It caused tons of pressure on the French Army, so the British launched the Battle of the Somme.
Both battles were tied, but had they been won by Germany, the war would have been lost.
