Chapter 14

After so long without really any type of contact, I'm going to be free of this asinine prison of mine. Without those stupid mask and googles, I was pretty normal. Everyone around me knew it too. Karkat especially. Ever since he saw me earlier, he hasn't left my side, not that I was complaining. Porrim came down and we ended up leaving. I was still wearing the stupid grey jumpsuit that they had everyone wear, but I was free of that stupid cell.

After Porrim signed me out and I waved goodbye to Brady, we exited out of the building. Immediately, I shielded my eyes from the sun. Even though I was given back my glasses, the sun was still bright as hell. Being practically blind for years doesn't really help.

Karkat and I both got into the back seat. He sat on the right and I, the left. We both put our seat belts on and we started moving.

"Thank2 agaiin... Porriim..."

"It's really no+ pro+blem So+llux.
Yo+u o+bvio+usly mean a lo+t to+ Karkat so+... I did yo+u bo+th a
favo+r."

"SO IM GUESSING WE'RE BRINGING HIM BACK TO THE HIVE WITH US?"

"Well yes. I can't imagine he has a place o+f his o+wn to+ go+ to+."

"RIGHT."

The rest of the drive was quiet, which wasn't really all that bad because I hadn't really been paying much attention. I stared out the window and got a glimpse of what I've been missing.

We pulled up in front of the hive and we all got out. Karkat ran around the side of the car and took my hand. Before I could say anything, he pulled me to the front door of his hive. "WE NEED TO GET YOU NEW CLOTHES BEFORE ANYONE SEES."

"I'll help with that." Porrim walked in front of them and unlocked the door, allowing the two of us in. Karkat brought me to his respite block and I sat down on his bed.

"PORRIM WILL HAVE YOUR CLOTHES READY SOON. I'D SAY FIFTEEN MINUTES TOPS." Karkat sat beside me.

"Okay cool." I yawned and stretched my arms over my head.

"TIRED?" Karkat raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah. The only real sleep ii've gotten wa2 ye2terday.. and ii can hardly call that 2leep 2iince ii kept wakiing up."

"WELL... YOU CAN SLEEP IN MY BED IF YOU WANT. IT'S BIG ENOUGH FOR TWO PEOPLE SO..." Karkat shrugged.

"Yeah, okay. That would be great."

Things were looking up for me right about now. I'm away from that shitty asylum, I have a place to stay, and... I think I might have a flushed crush on someone... heh...
