This is the first poem I have ever written. It is dedicated to my Mommom who was my angel and my light.

The Treasured Picture

I can feel you watching, protecting, and guarding,

I can feel it in my soul,

Your picture that I keep by my side,

I treasure more than you will ever know.

I miss your comments, questions, concerns,

You always had plenty to share,

Now as I gaze upon the treasured picture,

I can do nothing but cry and stare.

I feel guilty that I took for granted, your wisdom and your love,

Advice that was never ending,

Even about topics that were impossible to speak of.

You have always been my angel,

In life and now in death,

I remember telling you so, not too long before you took your last breath.

The treasured picture I hold so dear,

Reminds me of what once was,

The laughter, the tears, all of the memories,

Will never fade from my mind just because.

Thank you, treasured picture, for helping me to find,

The strength to laugh when all I wanted to ever do was cry.

The hole that was left in my heart, will unfortunately always be there,

Never will there be a replacement,

And only time can start the repair.

So as you watch over me from above,

Being my silent mentor and guide,

Just remember I will treasure the picture forever,

And you will forever be on my mind.
