I tried to sit and stay in a corner, waiting for someone else to come.

I feel all alone here wondering.

I stood up, smoothing the creases on my pants.

Then I run outside.

-

Five Minutes.

Where is she? Our exam is going to start in five minutes. I’m always looking at the door. Hoping she will be the next who will come in.

I put my pens and paper on my desk. Also putting my bag on the seat beside me, saving it for her.

All my classmates are busy in their last minute reviews.

I close my eyes, thinking about all the things that I have studied about. The punishments for the circles. Names.

Then everything become quiet. My classmates stops talking. This could only mean one thing.

Oh No! I look at the door.

It’s Professor Arambulo.

-

I think I’m going to cry. Trying to let all this information sinks in. I fall asleep last night. I shouldn’t have studied on my bed; I only made it halfway of what I’m reading.

Then I look at my watch. I’m late.

I look at my driver, Edmon. “I’m late, can you go a little bit faster?” I am worried that I’m gonna fail the exam.

“I can’t Lex, we’re already near.” Looking outside the window. We’re already in Philcoa. That’s good. Fifteen minutes late is not that bad.

I look back at the paper I’m reading. I can already imagine myself while taking the exam. Looking at the ceiling, trying to get the answers from heaven.

--

He drop me off at the AS steps and I run. I enter the College of Social Science and Philosophy, flashing off my ID at the security guard. He doesn’t even look if I’m the girl in the picture. What If it’s not mine, what if I’m a thief who is out to get the students? Well, I guess that there’s no thief that looks this pretty and the guard knows it.

A lot of students are walking to their classes and some are just sitting on the floor. Oh, they are relaxing, talking about mundane stuffs. Wishing I would be the one there talking with Kaila or Allie.

Going back to reality, I have an exam to go to and it is in the fourth floor. No elevators.

I grip the handle of my handbag and stomp up the stairs. Smiling and waving at the people I know.

This is not that difficult. Writing down the answers on my paper.

Twenty minutes have past and she’s not yet here. I look back at my paper scribbling furiously.

“It’s nice that you decided to take your test Ms. Mercado.”

I look up from what I’m writing. And she’s there. Glowing on her pink dress and a cardigan. She sees me staring at her and she smiles, sitting down on the seat next to me.

I smile back. She rummages around her bag for her things before starting the exam. Prof. Arambulo steps in front of her giving her the test paper.
