Glass Slipper
"Charming", said the prince
For Cinderella did not wince
As slipper slipped o'er toe and sole
Thus confirming Princess role.
Unlike the others vying, keening
To their sister so demeaning.
He was smiling oh so sweet,
Looking only at her feet
Sheathed in carapace of glass.
Did he recognize the lass
Lacking garb of midnight dress?
She who suffered such duress;
With pumpkins, mice and ticking time.
It was really not sublime.
To be fair he did not know.
I guess he liked her inner glow.
All the glitz and all the glamour
Caused in the country quite the clamour.
Fairy Godmom did her best.
Cindy's rags she did divest.
The shoe was such a perfect fit,
But really – how does one walk in it?
So delicate this mold refined
That a princess it defined.
In the ever after, oh so cheerful
Of treading soft she was not fearful,
For on parapets of fairy tale
Prince and Princess cannot fail.
